Tiktok released user data for the first time: 100 million monthly live users in the United States and 2 billion global Downloads

Tiktok has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government to challenge a ban it will impose next month. In its court filing, the company disclosed for the first time details of its monthly active users in the United States and around the world.

According to the document, about 11 million Americans used the tiktok app in January 2018, and its monthly number of active users (Maus) has increased by nearly 800% since then. About a year later, its monthly active users more than doubled to about 27 million; by June 2020, a few months after the new coronavirus pandemic prompted authorities to take quarantine measures, tiktok's total monthly active users in the United States soared to more than 91 million. Tiktok said earlier this month that it now has more than 100 million active users in the United States. The company also disclosed that it has more than 50 million users a day in the United States. In addition, tiktok has about 2 billion downloads worldwide.

By December 2018, it has soared to more than 271 million, and further to 507 million by December 2019. This month, tiktok had more than 2 billion downloads worldwide, and the number of monthly active users in July was close to 700 million.
